Hailing Frequencies Open

I’ve been recruited by my dear old husband of 10 years to write a little something for the website. So, here it goes sci-fi fans, the sappiest news always comes first! Due to the rapidly approaching final voyage of “Star Trek: The Experience” at the Las Vegas Hilton (you can read all about the sad news), Mike and I are finally going to have the Star Trek Wedding Vow Renewal ceremony on the bridge of the USS Enterprise before it is too late. The ceremony will be at 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 16th at the Las Vegas Hilton, Star Trek Experience. Insignia We are allowed to have a total of 40 guests, so anyone who wishes to attend this free-for-all freak show is welcome to attend. We need to submit a final guest count by 8/4/08. So, any fellow Trekkies (or are you a “Trekker”?) out there who want to drive to Las Vegas and come witness the funniest wedding you will probably ever attend, be our guest. Although, please note that we are not having the optional reception at Quark’s Bar since we are not millionaires…. And the ceremony will probably last 20 minutes and then after we most likely just hang out on the “Promenade” like dorks and cry about how Deep Space Nine got canceled and was the best show on television. The only perk provided with our cheapo “Vulcan Vow Renewal” package is the option to purchase discount entrance tickets to Star Trek The Experience for $28.99 (regularly $49.99), which we need to purchase by 8/4/08. Anyone wishing to purchase a ticket to this optional event can reimburse us for it when you arrive. (Please note that if we buy you a ticket and you don’t come we will have to vaporize you….see note above regarding our “millionaire” status.) On a serious note, if you love Star Trek you don’t want to miss seeing this attraction before it shuts down for good on September 1, 2008.

Okay, that being said, on to baby news. Aidan is 3 months old today and still a sweet tempered baby. He’s starting to talk a lot and jump in his jumperoo. Daniel is going to gymnastics class twice a week now and he loves it. He has also developed a habit of watching Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, but hey, who doesn’t love Mr. Rogers? Mike is busy with work and Daddy duty… (Daniel is especially demanding of Daddy’s time), although Mike secretly loves every minute of it. Meanwhile, I’m busy holding Aidan 26 hours a day (Bajor has 26 hour days…. See, if you watched Star Trek you would know what I’m talking about.), and trying to play with Daniel at the same time. That’s about it folks, I’ll update more later after more prodding from Mike.

WE HAD BOY!!!

Aidan Robert Thompson was born on April 30, 2008 at 2:04 PM. Weight was 8 pound 4 ounces. Height was 21 inches.

Melanie's c-section went very well and she is on the road to a full recovery. Before I continue... Let me just say, there is nothing more beautiful than a mother breast feeding her newborn. Picture of Melanie, Aidan, and Mike Melanie is the most powerful woman I know! My wife, the mother of my two beautiful boys, is my personal hero.

We've added a few pictures to our Gallery, so please feel free to take a looksy. If you would like to comment on any of the pictures, we welcome you to do so on our Picasa Web Album. Our online Gallery is simply an RSS feed of our Picasa Web Album.

April 2008

We have been extremely busy lately. Our new baby is due on April 30, 2008. We are all very excited. We don't know if it's a boy or girl yet, but Daniel has stated that it will be a boy, so we'll see. Picture of Daniel wrestling with Mike The baby's name will be either Aidan Robert Thompson (middle name after Mike's Grandpa) or Emily Catherine Thompson (middle name after Melanie's Grandma).

For those of you who were not aware, we moved to the California Central Coast so that Mike could take a part in a business opportunity with his family. Mike works for --company name removed-- in Grover Beach, CA - blocks from the Pismo State Beach entrance. For awhile, we lived in San Luis Obispo, CA but decided to move to a larger house in Santa Maria, CA.
